Charitable activities have been the bedrock of the Order since its foundation in the Crusades. This has developed from caring for those suffering from leprosy to include a wide range of issues including skin diseases and caring for the socially disadvantaged and excluded. These activities are the outward face of the Order – our ‘shop window’ - and are fundamental and essential aspects of our ongoing community involvement and engagement.
The philanthropic contributions made by the various jurisdictions and affiliate voluntary organisations of the Order are co-ordinated by the Office of the Grand Hospitaller. The Office reviews the annual philanthropic reports submitted by the jurisdictional hospitallers and co-ordinates any Flagship Projects identified.
In this area of the website we highlight national activities and our major international projects.
